HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – Sheriff Chad Chronister and the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office are warning residents about the dangers of celebratory gunfire this New Year’s Eve.

As we all prepare to welcome in 2021, HCSO is asking you to keep our skies bullet-free.

There are a lot of ways to celebrate the holiday, but shooting into the air for fun should not be one of them.

Celebratory gunfire is not only extremely dangerous, it’s against the law.

“Please remember, those bullets don’t just disappear,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “What goes up, must come down. Don’t risk taking someone else’s life by carelessly shooting into the air.” If you hear gunfire or see something suspicious, please call the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office immediately at 813-247-8200.
