Jacob Glen Vance, a 34-year-old West Virginia man, has been sentenced to 57 months in federal prison for possessing a machine gun and intending to distribute methamphetamine.
According to court documents and statements made during the proceedings, West Virginia State Police discovered the illegal firearms, including an unregistered machine gun, methamphetamine, and cash, during a search of Vance’s home and storage unit in Petersburg, Grant County.

This search was part of a separate, ongoing investigation.
Following his prison sentence, Vance will be under supervised release for three years.
The West Virginia State Police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) investigated the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen Warner prosecuted it on behalf of the government.
