Florida’s tourism marketing agency, Visit Florida, plans to seek a funding increase in the 2025 legislative session despite receiving $80 million this year.
The agency aims to reach the $100 million mark, with support from the governor, and hopes to gain backing from the House and Senate.
Although Governor DeSantis proposed $105 million for Visit Florida in the 2024 session, the final approved amount remained at $80 million, similar to the previous fiscal year.
The agency, which requires matching funds from the private sector, received $50 million from the state in 2021-2022, with an additional $30 million from federal stimulus programs.
State funding stayed at $50 million in 2022-2023.
Visit Florida reported a significant increase in visitors, with 140.6 million in 2023, surpassing pre-pandemic levels. The first half of 2024 also saw growth, with an estimated 74.8 million visitors. The 2025 legislative session is set to begin on March 4th.
