MARCO ISLAND, Fla. – The United States Coast Guard rescued five boaters Sunday after their vessel experienced mechanical failures.

Officials say the disabled 30-foot boat was about 23 miles southwest of Marco Island

“Coller County Sheriff’s Office dispatch contacted Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg watchstanders, Sunday, at approximately 9 a.m. reporting five men were overdue after departing Island Marina, Friday at approximately 5 a.m.,” said USCG.

The Coast Guard aircrew spotted all five men and the disabled vessel at around 1 p.m. on Sunday.
