ST. PETERSBURG, FL. – A man and woman were struck by a car overnight while crossing a St. Petersburg street overnight. Police say one pedestrian died at the scene.

According to investigators, around 10:30 pm Saturday, a grey Chevrolet Cruze, driven by a 24-year-old Largo man, was traveling eastbound in the curb lane of the 900 block of 62 Avenue North.

Police say, two pedestrians, a 52-year-old St. Petersburg and a 53-year-old woman, also from St. Petersburg, were crossing in the 900 block of 62 Avenue North, mid-block, from north to south.

Keene failed to notice the two pedestrians crossing the roadway and struck them while they were in the south curb lane.

Police say the man was pronounced dead at the scene by rescue personnel. The woman was transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg with serious injuries and is now in stable condition.

The investigation is ongoing and we will update this story when more details are released.
