After two disappointing bids to derail the Trump Train, the left-wing billionaire backing Nikki Haley is throwing in the towel.
CNBC reported on Wednesday that Reid Hoffman, a co-founder of LinkedIn, has cut off the fiscal spigot for the former South Carolina governor’s quixotic campaign.
Hoffman initially backed Haley on the bet that she was the best option to trip up Trump.

“If America is to avoid another Trump presidency, it will be because Trump loses an election next year. If he is to lose, it will either be to Nikki Haley in the primary, or [President] Joe Biden in the general,” Hoffman wrote on LinkedIn in December.
Accordingly, he tossed $250,000 to a pro-Haley super PAC last year.
Yet it was not enough.
Haley, who served as Trump’s UN ambassador, finished a disappointing third in Iowa, trailing Trump by more than 30 points.
She came closer in New Hampshire on Tuesday, after Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis dropped out, falling to Trump by 10 points.

Yet, with Haley woefully trailing Trump by 30 points in her home state, Hoffman apparently had seen enough.
“Hoffman didn’t have immediate plans to help Haley again” after Tuesday’s defeat, an unnamed source close to Hoffman told CNBC.
Meanwhile, Haley, whom DeSantis had labeled Wall Street’s candidate, faces a tough time ahead pitching her mix of liberal Republicanism and anti-Trumpism to wealthy backers.
CNBC reported that three clients of a GOP fundraiser, each of whom had helped Haley generate up to $100,000 for her bid, are now “opting out of further financial efforts for the former United Nations ambassador.”
“Other fundraisers said Wednesday said that while they plan to speak out publicly in support of Haley, they are not convinced that they will be able to raise much money for her campaign because of her 0-for-2 record so far,” the outlet added.
