The COVID-19 pandemic may now be officially over. Or maybe it’s another attempt to show Americans how virile and robust President Joe Biden is.
Regardless, according to the Associated Press on Monday, the White House ended a COVID-19 testing requirement for people who will be in close contact with Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, and their spouses.
The move meant an end to “the last coronavirus prevention protocol at the White House,” the AP noted.

The change was made after last week’s announcement by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that anyone who tests positive for COVID can go back to work or other regular activities if they have mild symptoms, are improving and been fever-free for a day.
Previously, the CDC told Americans to stay home for five days.
In a statement issued last week explaining its shift, the CDC noted that COVID is now like the flu.
“This advice is similar to what has been recommended for flu for decades and will help reduce the spread of COVID-19 and other respiratory viruses during the most contagious period after infection,” the agency said. “If your symptoms are getting better, and stay better for 24 hours, you are less likely to pass your infection to others and you can start getting back to your daily routine and move on to step 2.”

The AP pointed out that the White House initiated its testing protocol in 2020 when former President Donald Trump was in charge. Yet Biden “further strengthened” it when he took office in January 2021.
Biden caught the virus in mid-2022 despite having been vaccinated multiple times.
The Biden White House, however, continued testing for those around the now 81-year-old president even though Biden last April signed a bipartisan congressional resolution that ended the order declaring a national emergency because of the pandemic.
