Thomas Bucciarelli, a 40-year-old resident of Corpus Christi, has been sentenced to 46 months in federal prison for his involvement in a human smuggling operation that endangered lives.

Court documents reveal that on August 20, 2022, Bucciarelli attempted to evade law enforcement in Carrizo Springs, recklessly running red lights and colliding with another vehicle. Border Patrol agents apprehended Bucciarelli and discovered four undocumented noncitizens in his vehicle.

Bucciarelli pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to transport undocumented noncitizens, placing lives in jeopardy, on February 6, 2023.

U.S. Attorney Jaime Esparza of the Western District of Texas announced the sentencing and the case was investigated by the U.S. Border Patrol.
