A Texas man has been arrested and charged in connection with the death of his girlfriend, whose body was found hanging from a marina dock in May.

James Hart, 51, faces charges of tampering with or fabricating physical evidence with intent to impair a human corpse. The victim, 30-year-old Giselle Salazar-Tapia, a mother of four, was discovered deceased on May 31st at the Wharf Marina at Clear Lake.

Initial investigations suggested that Salazar-Tapia might have died elsewhere before her body was moved to the dock. Hart was initially questioned but released.

However, detectives returned to the marina on Thursday and arrested Hart.

While the exact cause of Salazar-Tapia’s death remains under investigation, authorities suspect foul play. The Galveston County Medical Examiner’s Office is expected to release a full report, including toxicology results, to shed further light on the circumstances surrounding her death.

The League City Police Department is urging anyone with information related to the case to come forward. They have assured the public that the investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be filed as more details emerge.
