Last we heard from Austin, Texas, the school district last month was defying state Attorney General Ken Paxton by hosting its annual gay pride week.

Paxton had denounced the alleged “celebration,” saying it amounted to sex education, which violated the law since that is something only parents could control.

Instead, the school district literally flaunted its commitment to the LGBT community, with happenings that included performances by drag queens, showings of the cable TV show “Queer Eye,” and so much paraphernalia that, as one parent approvingly told the leftist Texas Tribune, school ground looked like the “rainbow threw up.”

Well, with all that going on, no one should be surprised by the latest news.

According to the Fox affiliate in Austin, as students were being dismissed Thursday from Gullett Elementary School, a parent dressed as the Easter bunny handed out to the kids “plastic Easter eggs filled with candy, and some with unopened condoms.”

Principal Tammy Thompson reportedly said the egg and condom distribution was neither sanctioned nor planned by the school.

As Fox reported, “She ask(ed) parents to work with campus staff, as the school values parent participation and wants to best support students.”

A spokesperson for the school district told Fox that the parent bunny was asked to leave school grounds, but simply stepped onto the public sidewalk and kept giving kids the eggs.

“It was an incredibly careless and inappropriate action of a parent, to put it kindly,” the spokesperson told the CBS affiliate.

“Currently, the youngest students in Austin ISD [Independent School District] aren’t even learning anything related to ‘human sexuality and responsibility,’” the local CBS station noted.

The district also called this “some unprecedented territory.”

But is it really, when school officials not only discuss but openly promote alternative sexual lifestyles as “acceptance,” even to the youngest children under its jurisdiction? Under those circumstances, why should the “bunny” think giving second-graders condoms is out of bounds?
