A 33-year-old Tennessee man has been sentenced to 40 years in prison followed by lifetime supervised release for sex trafficking a minor.

A federal jury found Maurice Fitzgerald Alexander, Jr., 33, Memphis, guilty earlier this year of several charges, including sex trafficking of a minor by force, fraud, or coercion, conspiracy to commit sex trafficking, transportation with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity, and production of child pornography.

The investigation began in October 2021 when the Tucson Police Department responded to a 911 call from the 14-year-old victim, who reported being trafficked for sexual exploitation.

It was revealed that Alexander had trafficked the victim across multiple states, including Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, and Colorado, between August and October 2021.

Alexander was arrested in Tucson, and a subsequent search of his phone uncovered evidence that he forced the victim to create sexually explicit content for online advertisements.

The case was investigated by the Tucson Police Department and Homeland Security Investigations, and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Nathaniel J. Walters and Monica E. Ryan.
