A Tennessee man faces charges after his 3-year-old son fatally shot himself with the father’s unsecured gun.

Police responded to a call on Oakwood Avenue in Nashville on Wednesday evening, where Aydeen Pruitt was found with a gunshot wound to the head. The boy was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Dandre Pruitt, 23, the boy’s father, fled the scene but surrendered to authorities the following day.

He admitted to leaving the loaded pistol on the bedroom floor, where Aydeen accessed it.

Pruitt was charged with reckless homicide, child neglect, and evidence tampering. This tragedy occurred just over a year after Pruitt’s 4-year-old daughter, Taliyah Frazier, was killed in a drive-by shooting.
