TAMPA, Fla. – The Tampa Police Department has received multiple calls from concerned citizens in reference to a telephone scam.

Scammers have been targeting residents within the city of Tampa identifying themselves as Tampa Police Department personnel.

The Scammers make threats to arrest residents if they do not transfer a significant amount of money.

Be on the look out for scammers calling from the non-emergency phone number 813-231-6130 or our District 1 office at 813-354-6600.

“REMEMBER, Tampa PD personnel will never contact you requesting you to transfer funds, gift cards, or cash,” said TPD.
