ST. PETERSBURG, FL. – At approximately 2:00 pm St. Petersburg Fire & Rescue units were dispatched to a vehicle that struck a water main at the intersection of 34th Street North and 24th Avenue North.
Crews arrived to find an SUV that struck the large blue water valve that protruded from the ground.
No injuries were reported, according to officials.
St. Petersburg Police Department is handling the investigation of the vehicle crash. St. Petersburg Water Resources is on scene and attempting to isolate the water.
Fire Inspectors are in the nearby business ensuring that the fire sprinkler systems are operating properly.
“Crews request that all drivers passing the intersection to pay attention to their surroundings and not to use cell phones while driving that may cause another crash,” said Lt. Garth Swingle with St. Petersburg Fire Rescue.
