Lawyers for Florida’s legislative leaders are urging the state Supreme Court to dismiss a challenge to a revised financial impact statement for the proposed abortion amendment.
They argue that the legislative leaders had the authority to reconvene the panel responsible for the statement and that the revised version is clear and accurate.
The challenge was brought by the Floridians Protecting Freedom political committee, which is leading the effort to pass the amendment. They argue that the statement was improperly revised and is misleading.

The revised statement acknowledges the uncertainty surrounding the financial impact of the amendment, particularly regarding whether it would require the state to subsidize abortions with public funds. It concludes that the total impact is “indeterminate.”
The Supreme Court is expected to make a decision on the matter soon.
