ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – A local woman was arrested last weekend after allegedly assaulting her husband with a burrito and taco during an argument over his birthday meal.

Esha Persad, 34, was taken into custody by the St. Petersburg Police Department on a battery charge. According to the arrest affidavit, the incident occurred shortly after midnight on Saturday at the couple’s home.

The altercation reportedly stemmed from Persad’s choice of Taco Bell and McDonald’s for her husband’s birthday dinner. The affidavit mentions both a burrito and a soft shell taco being involved in the assault, with a burrito still on the husband’s face when police arrived.

Persad admitted to throwing the food but claimed it was in retaliation for her husband throwing a bag at her, a claim he denies. The husband sustained no injuries.

Persad was booked into the Pinellas County jail and was later released. She is now facing a misdemeanor domestic battery charge.
