A Spirit Airlines flight from Fort Lauderdale to Port-au-Prince was forced to make an emergency landing in Santiago, Dominican Republic after the aircraft was struck by gunfire.

The incident occurred Monday morning as the plane was attempting to land at the Port-au-Prince airport. One flight attendant suffered minor injuries, while no passengers were harmed.

A video shared on social media appears to show bullet holes in the aircraft, confirming the severity of the attack.

“The safety of our guests and team members is our top priority,” the airline said in a statement.

This marks the second incident involving gunfire and aircraft in Haiti in recent months. In October, a United Nations helicopter was also targeted by gunfire, though no injuries were reported.

Spirit Airlines has suspended its service to Port-au-Prince and Cap-Haitien pending further evaluation. Due to the escalating violence and instability in Haiti, several airlines, including American and JetBlue, have suspended flights to the country.
