Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) has introduced a series of proposals aimed at countering Iran’s escalating aggression in the Middle East.
He attributes much of the recent violence to the Biden-Harris administration’s lax enforcement of sanctions against Tehran, which has allowed Iran’s oil exports to surge, providing a financial boost for its terrorist activities.

Graham’s proposals include:
- The Terrorism Tariff: A tariff on all imports from countries that purchase oil or gas from Iran, forcing them to choose between cheap Iranian oil and normal trade relations with the U.S.
- Hezbollah as Iranian Proxy: A resolution declaring any Hezbollah attack on Israel as an Iranian attack, potentially opening the door for targeting Iranian oil refineries.
- Definitive Red Lines: Establishing clear red lines for Iran’s nuclear program, authorizing military action if Iran crosses them.
In a Wall Street Journal op-ed, Graham highlighted the urgency of these measures, citing intelligence reports detailing Iran’s rapid advancement in nuclear capabilities.
“Secretary of State Antony Blinken said recently that Iran has narrowed its nuclear breakout time—how long it would take to produce enough weapons-grade uranium to make a bomb—to a week or two. The Office of the Director of National Intelligence published an assessment that found “Iran continues to increase the size of its uranium stockpile, increase its enrichment capacity, and develop, manufacture, and operate advanced centrifuges. Tehran has the infrastructure and experience to quickly produce weapons-grade uranium at multiple facilities, if it chooses to do so.” I encourage every American to read that report, and I urge my congressional colleagues to read the classified version. It will put this threat into chilling perspective,” Graham wrote.
He believes the Biden-Harris administration’s weakness towards Iran has emboldened the regime and endangered the region.

The senator’s proposals aim to send a strong message to Iran that its destabilizing behavior will no longer be tolerated.
He argues that a firm stance, backed by the threat of military force if necessary, is the only way to deter Iran’s nuclear ambitions and protect American interests in the Middle East.
