POLK COUNTY, FL. – Four people are dead, including an infant, after a man shot them before attacking Polk County deputies, said Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd.

An 11-year-old child was also shot multiple times and airlifted to Tampa General where she is in surgery, Judd said.

Deputies came under attack when they arrived near the residence, but were uninjured, according to investigators.

“The 11-year-old looked our deputies in the eyes and said ‘there are three more dead people in the house'”, said Judd.

Details of the suspect have not been released but we know that he is being treated for a gunshot wound at Lakeland General.

Sheriff Judd also said that deputies were searching for a missing child, thought to be 10 or 11 years of age, but the child was located safe.

This is a developing story and will be updated as information is released.
