A group of Republicans opposed to former President Donald Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign has raised over $35 million to back Vice President Kamala Harris in the upcoming November election.
The group, Republican Voters Against Trump (RVAT), is working to bolster Democratic efforts to retain the White House and has set a fundraising target of $50 million for this election cycle, a significant increase from the $10 million they raised in 2020.

Led by conservative strategist Sarah Longwell, with prominent figures such as Bill Kristol and Tim Miller, RVAT recently launched an $11-million advertising campaign aimed at crucial battleground states including Arizona, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Nebraska’s 2nd Congressional District. This campaign is designed to sway key voters away from Trump.
Although the fundraising efforts of RVAT pale in comparison to the $574 million raised by pro-Trump groups and the $770 million collected by Harris’s supporters, their efforts mark a notable opposition within some conservative circles.

As of September 4th, RVAT had received donations from over 6,200 contributors across all 50 states, with contributions ranging from $1 to seven figures. RVAT spokesperson Tony Franquiz highlighted the broad and passionate support base committed to “protecting democracy.”
The group’s $11.5 million advertising initiative, funded primarily by Democratic contributors, allocates significant resources to swing states, with $4.5 million going to Pennsylvania, $3 million to Michigan, $2.2 million to Wisconsin, $1.5 million to Arizona, and $375,000 to Nebraska’s 2nd Congressional District. Their goal is to persuade disillusioned Republican voters to support Harris in the 2024 election.
