U.S. Rep. Jim Cooper is one of 30 Democrats who is not returning to Congress next year.
Recently, Cooper identified a problem Democrats face in rural Tennessee. According to him, rural voters are “trapped” by the Republican Party because woke urban Democrats don’t present a viable option.
“What outreach do we have to Republicans and independents? Most of the rhetoric you hear is, ‘Let’s double down, let’s force it down their throats,'” Cooper told The Hill about how Democrats see rural Tennessee. “That’s not the way to win votes. You have to have mutual respect and trust.”
Yet the challenge for Democrats: It’s not just Tennessee.
As the Associated Press reported on Wednesday, “Some Democrats in rural Pennsylvania are afraid to tell you they’re Democrats. The party’s brand is so toxic in the small towns 100 miles northeast of Pittsburgh that some liberals have removed bumper stickers and yard signs and refuse to acknowledge publicly their party affiliation.”
“A small but vocal group of Democratic officials now fears the same trends will undermine their attic candidates in Ohio, Wisconsin, Georgia, North Carolina and Pennsylvania, states that will help decide the Senate majority in November, and the White House two years after that,” the AP reported.
The AP noted that Florida’s Republican base is surging as voters in rural areas enlist in the GOP. As The Free Press recently reported, Republicans outnumber Democrats in the Sunshine State for the first time in the state’s 177-year history.
The purpose of the AP report was to show that some Democrats want to win back rural voters.
Former North Dakota Sen. Heidi Heitkamp, a Democrat, is behind something called the One Country Project, a group that aims to pick up Democrats among rural voters.
Heitkamp, offering a rare bit of honesty from the left, noted that Democrats have dug this hole themselves – and now cannot figure out how to get out. Heitkamp, the AP noted, thinks Democrats themselves undermine their own cause “by not speaking out more forcefully against far-left positions that alienate rural voters, such as the push to ‘defund the police.’”
“We’re letting Republicans use the language of the far left to define the Democratic Party, and we can’t do that,” Heitkamp said. “The trend lines in rural America are very, very bad. … Now, the brand is so toxic that people who are Democrats, the ones left, aren’t fighting for the party.”
The AP helpfully illustrated how the Democrats are essentially abandoning rural America.
In 2008, Barack Obama became president despite winning only 875 of America’s more than 3,100 counties.
Joe Biden won in 2020 by taking just 527 counties. And, the AP reported, the “vast majority” of the counties that swapped Obama for Donald Trump – 260 of the 348 that shifted – were rural.

Conservatives need to buy all the properties in the Communist controlled urban centers and suburban fringes and refuse to allow it to be used by Libtards for any purpose. This will force Libtards to move to rural areas where they can’t concentrate votes and elect crazy Leftist trash. Suckafornia, New Dork and other States have been ruined because of Libtard concentration in large cities.
