As we get further and further from Jan. 6, 2021, and closer and closer to the November election, the Biden administration is intensifying the hunt for alleged U.S. Capitol rioters.

The Epoch Times reported on Tuesday that the number of arrests of suspects facing charges related to the riot in 2024 was nearly double that of 2023 and 2022.

“The rate of arrests picked up during the last quarter of 2023 and has continued through four months of 2024,” the Times noted, citing a monthly Department of Justice report.

The Times noted that the FBI had arrested 1,424 J6 suspects as of May 3.

That number included 159 people who were arrested during the first four months of 2024, the Times added.

In comparison, the FBI hauled in 83 Trump supporters during the same time period last year and 85 in the same time frame in 2022.

So far, roughly 820 J6 defendants have pleaded guilty to a variety of federal crimes, with 69% of them copping to misdemeanor charges and 31% to felonies.

But in heavily Democratic Washington, D.C., trying to go before a jury is almost no use.

“Every defendant who opted for a jury trial has been found guilty of at least some of the charges lodged against them,” the Times reported. “Only three defendants have been acquitted of all charges. Those cases involved bench trials.”

In all, the courts have resolved the cases of nearly 885 J6 defendants. Among them, 61% were sentenced to prison, while 19% were ordered to home detention and 3.5% received some combination of the two.
