Florida Rep. Byron Donalds ripped Senate Republicans for giving into Democrats on a proposed $1.7 trillion spending bill to keep the government going for the next nine months.
In an interview on Friday with conservative podcaster Charlie Kirk, the Naples Republican called the Senate’s deal with Majority Leader Chuck Schumer “completely outrageous” and added that it is “selling us up a creek.”
Donalds noted that by surrendering to Democrats, Senate Republicans have essentially agreed to keep President Joe Biden’s left-wing agenda going throughout most of 2023.
As an example, Donalds said it “makes zero sense,” for example, to allow more funding for the war in Ukraine without demanding any accountability from Ukraine’s government on how it is being spent or to pump more money into fighting COVID-19 when the government has $500 billion dedicated for that but still unspent.

“This is a concoction of the Senate dynamics, where they think it’s OK to brush the spending under the rug because they don’t want to take the political hit,” he added.
In a separate interview with Newsmax on Friday, Donalds called the deal a “disaster.”
Donalds was discussing the Biden administration’s lax immigration policies, and said by consenting to the deal, GOP senators were tossing away “any lever of power to secure the border.”
Donalds added, “Yeah, I’m looking at you [Senate Minority Leader] Mitch McConnell. You need to stop it immediately.”
“If they go along with this spending bill, the border will be unsecure.”
On Twitter on Friday, Donalds fired another salvo, saying, “Why on Earth are @LeaderMcConnell and the @SenateGOP agreeing to a ‘framework’ for the Omnibus bill without demanding border security as a critical measure of the negotiations? Agreeing to the current deal by Democrats takes away any chance of securing the border next Congress.”
“Any Senate Republican that agrees to a 9-month omnibus spending bill will steal the ability for House Republicans to secure the border. You will be complicit in [President Joe] Biden’s border crisis!!”
