WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – Two men were arrested Monday night for engaging in a dangerous street race on US 17 in Winter Haven.

A Polk County Sheriff’s deputy observed a black Dodge Challenger and a black Ford Mustang racing and weaving through traffic around 7:54 p.m. near Cypress Gardens Boulevard.

The deputy conducted a traffic stop on both vehicles at the intersection of US 17 and Lake Shipp Drive. The drivers, identified as 37-year-old David Grafals and 18-year-old Isaiah Giuliano, both of Winter Haven, admitted to their reckless driving and expressed remorse for their actions.

Grafals and Giuliano were arrested and transported to the Polk County Jail. They were each charged with reckless driving and racing on a highway.
