HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – An 18-year-old from Plant City, Janye B. Evans, has been indicted on federal charges for allegedly transmitting a threat to injure across state lines. If convicted, Evans could face up to five years in federal prison.
According to court records, on July 24, 2024, law enforcement learned that Evans had posted a photograph of himself on social media.

The photograph depicted Evans in front of a Hillsborough County high school and contained a caption threatening to injure others.
Law enforcement obtained additional photographs from Evans’s account on the social media platform, several of which depicted Evans in possession of what appeared to be firearms.
The case is being investigated by the FBI and the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, with prosecution led by Assistant United States Attorney Maria Guzman.
