PINELLAS COUNTY, FL. – Detectives assigned to the Robbery/Homicide Unit are investigating the death of 35-year-old inmate Erica Ficca.

Detectives say Ficca was booked into the Pinellas County Jail on February 6, 2022, after being arrested on one count Violation of Probation for Grand Theft of Motor Vehicle and two counts of Violation of Probation for Dealing in Stolen Property.

According to detectives, on February 10, 2022, at approximately 2:47 a.m., Ficca was found unconscious and unresponsive in her cell by deputies who were conducting a well-being check.

Deputies and medical staff performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on Ficca until paramedics responded to continue life-saving measures. Ficca was pronounced deceased at 3:27 a.m.

On February 10, 2022, an autopsy was conducted by the Medical Examiner’s Office and there were no indications of trauma or foul play.

A toxicology analysis has been requested and the cause of death is pending. Next of kin has been notified.
