The United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Vermont announced that Ronald Harris, 32, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was sentenced on Wednesday by Chief United States District Judge Geoffrey Crawford to 100 months in prison, followed by four years of supervised release. Harris had previously pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute cocaine base, fentanyl, and heroin.
Court records indicate that Harris held a trusted position within the drug trafficking operation, making regular trips between Philadelphia and Chittenden County, Vermont, from October 2021 to January 2023 to transport drugs and money.

When he was arrested in January 2023, law enforcement seized approximately $98,000 from Harris, over one kilogram of crack cocaine, and more than half a kilogram of heroin from an apartment in Essex Junction used by the conspiracy.
United States Attorney Nikolas P. Kerest praised the collaborative investigative efforts of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Drug Enforcement Administration, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Burlington Police Department throughout the lengthy investigation.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Eugenia Cowles prosecuted the case, while Assistant Federal Public Defender Steven Barth represented Harris.
