LAND O’ LAKES, FL. – A Pine View Middle School Student was arrested on Tuesday after authorities found he was carrying a gun in school.
According to an email that went out to parents, Pine View Middle School Principal Jennifer Warren said that students came forward that they heard comments from a fellow student, that made them concerned, that a male student might be in possession of a weapon on campus.
According to the email, the school resource officer immediately identified the student, took him aside without incident, and discovered that he was in possession of a firearm.
Warren said the student did not make any threats or express any intent to harm anyone. But the child was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm on a school campus.
“As disappointed as we are with the student who made a bad decision today, I want to applaud the students who did the right thing. We repeat the phrase “see something, say something” all the time. These students took it to heart. They came forward and reported their concerns to staff. As a result, we were able to resolve the situation with no disruption to our campus. At no time were our students or staff in any danger,” said Warren.
