PASCO COUNTY, Fla – Pasco County Fire Rescue announces an innovative recruitment effort to hire State of Florida-certified paramedics.
Pasco County Fire Rescue will pay all costs associated with their participation in gaining their State of Florida firefighting credential through our academy.
This recruitment program will allow qualified paramedics to increase their skills with fire academic training and coursework to expand their career opportunities.

“We are very excited to launch this new recruitment effort in the bay area,” said Fire Chief Scott Cassin of Pasco County Fire Rescue. “Our goal is to help State of Florida certified paramedics take their career to the next level, applying their current knowledge and adding the latest fire training offered in-house at Pasco County Fire Rescue.”
Qualified paramedics will receive their training at the state-of-the-art Pasco County Fire Rescue Training Center during the first fourteen weeks of their employment.
After successfully completing the fire academy, recruits will enter the workforce as credentialed State of Florida Firefighter/Paramedics and will immediately start serving the residents and visitors of Pasco County.
Applicants must be able to complete the following:
- Background check
- Drug screening
- Fingerprinting to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement
- Sign an affidavit as a non-user of tobacco for one year
- Complete a firefighter health physical
- Complete a physical abilities exam
- a. 1.5 mile run in less than 15 minutes
- b. 40 push-ups in 2 minutes
- c. 40 sit-ups in 2 minutes
