PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. – A tragic incident occurred in Oldsmar on Monday, resulting in the death of a 38-year-old Old Town woman.

At approximately 6:05 a.m., deputies responded to a call about a pedestrian being hit by a vehicle at the intersection of Tampa Road and Pine Avenue South.

Investigators believe 57-year-old Randall George was driving eastbound on Tampa Road with a green light.

Marie Lucas, 38, was crossing Tampa Road with her 16-year-old son against a “do not cross” signal. Lucas, who was wearing all black clothing, was struck by George’s 2021 orange Chevrolet Colorado.

Sadly, Lucas was pronounced deceased at the hospital. Her son and the driver were unharmed. Speed and impairment are not believed to be factors in the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
