A federal jury has convicted a Minnesota man on charges related to child pornography charges utilizing the dark web.

Craig James Myran, 47, of Bemidji, was found guilty of advertising, distributing, and possessing material depicting the sexual abuse of children.

According to evidence presented at trial, Myran was an active participant on a dark web website dedicated to child sexual abuse material. He used a unique username to make over a thousand posts on the site, including requests for specific files and the distribution of child sexual abuse material to other users.

In December 2022, FBI agents executed a search warrant at Myran’s apartment and seized numerous hard drives and a cell phone. A forensic examination of these devices uncovered evidence linking Myran to his online activity and revealed thousands of images of child sexual abuse material.

Myran’s sentencing hearing will be scheduled at a later date. He faces a significant prison sentence for his crimes.
