LARGO, Fla.- On Tuesday night around 9:30 pm, officers of the Largo Police Department were dispatched to East Bay Dr and Newport Dr for a traffic crash.

A Honda motorcycle was traveling eastbound East Bay Dr when a silver Ford Fusion made a left-hand turn from westbound East Bay Dr towards Newport Dr in front of the motorcycle.

The motorcycle braked heavily in order to avoid the crash but was unable to stop in time. The Fusion struck the motorcycle causing significant trauma to the motorcyclist, who was transported to a local hospital with critical injuries.  At this time, the rider remains in critical condition after significant aid was provided to him by FD and medical staff.

A helmet was not worn.  Alcohol does not appear to be a factor and the investigation is ongoing.
