ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – A large branch from an oak tree broke and fell onto two houses early this morning, injuring a woman in the process.
According to authorities, the incident occurred around 6:00 am on Saturday on the 3000 block of 15th Avenue South. The fallen branch caused damage to two homes.

When a resident emerged from one of the houses to assess the damage, a tragically larger branch fell, pinning her to the sidewalk. Thankfully, officers were able to quickly intervene and extract the woman from under the tree.
St. Petersburg Fire Rescue arrived at the scene and transported the woman to a local hospital. Thankfully, her injuries were reported as non-life-threatening.
Road Closure for Tree Removal
15th Ave. S. between 30th and 31st Streets is currently closed to allow crews to safely remove the fallen tree. The duration of the closure is unknown at this time.
