LAKELAND, Fla. – The Lakeland Police Department (LPD) proudly announces the successful retention of two prestigious national accreditations from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA).
At the recent CALEA Summer Conference in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Assistant Chief of Police Marvin Tarver and members of the Office of Professional Standards accepted the reaccreditations for the department’s overall performance and its Public Safety Communications operations.
This achievement marks a significant milestone, as the LPD met the stringent requirements of CALEA’s Advanced Law Enforcement Accreditation Program, complying with 461 international standards for police operations.

This rigorous process, exceeding the standard accreditation program’s requirements, involved a comprehensive assessment of the department’s policies, procedures, management, and support services.
Additionally, the 911 Emergency Communications team demonstrated compliance with 211 international standards for Public Safety Communications, affirming the department’s commitment to excellence in critical incidents, special operations, and overall communication practices.
