Lakeland Fire Department (LFD) responded to a commercial structure fire at Carpenter Co. at 5150 Frontage Rd S, Feb 21, around 12:15 PM. LFD fire crews arrived at an industrial warehouse with heavy smoke showing and an evacuation in progress.

LAKELAND, Fla. – Lakeland Fire Department (LFD) responded to a commercial structure fire at Carpenter Co. at 5150 Frontage Rd S, Feb 21, around 12:15 PM. LFD fire crews arrived at an industrial warehouse with heavy smoke showing and an evacuation in progress.

Plant personnel told arriving firefighters that three employees were unaccounted for.

Firefighters searched the building for occupants, finding none.

All employees had safely exited the building, and later all were accounted for, officials say.

The warehouse produces urethane foam manufactured for mattresses. According to LFD Fire Investigator, a glue used in the production process ignited in an electrical power strip.

Response to the scene included 17 LFD units, LPD units, and Polk County Fire Rescue (PCFR). No firefighter injuries were reported.
