Ingenuity. What can you say? A Florida man reportedly tried to smuggle drugs into Pinellas County jail using his prosthetic leg.
Keith Adams, 37, is accused of using the artificial limb to try to sneak in a gram of fentanyl and Xanax pills into a Pinellas County jail on Saturday.
According to police reports, during a traffic stop in Largo on Saturday, Adams, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was sitting on a glass pipe that police say contained a thick white residue which field-tested positive for cocaine.
Pinellas County Sheriff Deputies tried to arrest Adams, investigators say that he struggled with the deputies and was taken to the ground, where he was handcuffed.
In custody for cocaine possession and resisting, Adams, who has a prosthetic leg, was asked if anything was concealed in his prosthetic leg but told deputies no.
Once Adams arrived at the Pinellas County Jail for booking, a search by deputies found that Adams’s leg contained a gram of fentanyl and Xanax pills.
Adams was booked on a $7,650 bond on three felony charges and one misdemeanor, including resisting officer without violence.
