A Florida woman named Katherine Guerrero De Aguasvivas, 31, fell victim to a carjacking that police believe ultimately resulted in her tragic death.
This shocking crime, captured on video, has left the community in shock, and law enforcement agencies are working tirelessly to uncover the truth behind this heinous act.
On Thursday, Katherine Guerrero De Aguasvivas was visiting Central Florida from her hometown of Homestead. Little did she know that her journey would take a sinister turn when she arrived in Winter Springs.
As she approached the intersection of East Lake Drive and Tuskawilla Road, a masked man emerged from a green Acura, brandishing a gun. The terrifying moment was captured on video by a witness who happened to be behind the Acura.
In the footage, the armed suspect can be seen approaching Katherine’s car and demanding that she unlock the doors. With the gun pointed directly at her, she complied, and the suspect quickly got into the backseat of her white Dodge Durango. It was at this moment that Katherine’s life took a tragic turn. The witness continued recording as the carjacking unfolded, unaware of the horror that would later unfold.

As news of the carjacking spread, law enforcement agencies launched an intensive investigation to locate Katherine Guerrero De Aguasvivas and bring the perpetrators to justice.
The Seminole County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with Osceola County investigators, worked diligently to piece together the timeline of events leading up to the carjacking and subsequent tragedy.

He advised her not to stop and to remain in the car. Unfortunately, no report was made to 911, leaving law enforcement with limited information to work with initially. Despite the challenges, investigators remained determined to uncover the truth.
The Discovery of the Burned Car
Approximately two hours after the carjacking, authorities received reports of gunshots and a vehicle on fire in Osceola County. Responding to the scene, deputies discovered a car that matched the description of Katherine’s white Dodge Durango engulfed in flames.
Tragically, a body was found inside the vehicle. While investigators have yet to confirm the identity of the deceased, they strongly believe it to be Katherine Guerrero De Aguasvivas.
“But, from all accounts looking at the scene, it looks like the vehicle and is consistent to everything we’ve seen so far,” Seminole County Sheriff Lemma said.
The burnt car and its grisly contents provided crucial evidence for the ongoing investigation.
Detectives discovered 12 shell casings and an unidentified projectile in close proximity to the vehicle. These findings further reinforced law enforcement’s belief that the carjacking was not a random act of violence but a targeted crime.

Unraveling the Timeline
To build a comprehensive understanding of the events leading up to the carjacking, investigators focused on establishing a timeline of Katherine Guerrero De Aguasvivas’ activities on the day of the incident.
While initial reports suggested that she had come to Central Florida to visit family, investigators found no evidence to support this claim. Consequently, they turned their attention to reconstructing her movements in the hours preceding the carjacking.
According to law enforcement sources, Katherine arrived in Seminole County around 3:34 p.m. on the day of the incident.
Video footage captured at the intersection of East Lake Drive and Tuskawilla Road shows her making a U-turn before driving towards Orange County. The green Acura, which had been following her, continued its pursuit.
The Motive Behind the Carjacking
One of the key questions that investigators grapple with is the motive behind the targeted carjacking. Why did the perpetrators choose Katherine Guerrero De Aguasvivas?
The answer to this question remains elusive, but law enforcement agencies strongly believe that the suspects knew their victim. The fact that Katherine reported being followed moments before the carjacking supports this theory.
Sheriff Dennis Lemma of the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office addressed the motive during a press briefing, stating, “There’s no clear indicator why somebody would do this, why would they target them, but we do feel and believe because she was being followed… that this was not a random act of violence.” With this belief in mind, investigators are now appealing to the public for any information that could shed light on the motive and lead to the apprehension of the suspects.
