HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man for the attempted murder of four people on December 20, 2023.

HCSO deputies responded to multiple calls for service for a shooting that occurred on Sweet Sapling Street in Riverview at 5:48 p.m. on the above date. They located three victims with gunshot wounds, all determined to be non-life threatening.

The shooting stemmed from a verbal altercation that turned physical.

A fourth victim was physically assaulted when he attempted to break up the fight and was shot at but not struck.

After a thorough investigation, detectives arrested Darcy Washington, 44, on Tuesday, for his involvement. He is facing multiple charges, including:

  • Aggravated Battery Great Bodily Harm and Deadly Weapon (x3)
  • Attempted Murder in the First Degree Premeditated Firearm – Discharge (x2)
  • Attempted Murder in the Second Degree Premeditated Firearm – Discharge (x2)
  • Discharge Firearm in Public or On Residential Property
  • Shooting at Within or Into a Building
