HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – Republican Party Chair Carmen Edmonds spoke to Tampa Free Press about volunteer positions available throughout Hillsborough County. The Party is receiving positive feedback from voters and volunteers as it gears up for the August 20 primary elections.

“The August 20, 2024 primary elections are very important. It’s very simple to sign up as a volunteer through our website, www.hillsborough.gop, or call 813-621-7909,” Edmonds said. Visitors to the website click on the big blue “Volunteer” button on the home page.

Edmonds explained how the volunteer schedule works throughout the week.

“Every Wednesday, we have volunteer opportunities for people from the community. They can just show up at our office located at 5118 North 56th Street, Suite 115, and help if they wish. Right now, we’re doing a letter-writing campaign. We’re also stuffing bags used for canvassing Republican voters in neighborhoods. We will also begin phone calling, which is planned to start this week. On Saturdays, we do all the same things at the office, but we also have our volunteers out door-knocking if they want.

We also need poll watchers for early voting and the August 20 primary voting. We also need help for our early voting information tent to pass out voter information guides.”

Edmonds said office volunteers typically work from 10 a.m. to noon or 12:30 p.m., and door knockers start at 9:30 a.m. Phone callers can work anytime once trained.

Free water, coffee and snacks are available at the office for everyone.
