HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – Get ready to lace up your boots! Hillsborough County’s popular Hiking Spree returns for its ninth year, starting this Sunday, December 1st.

This free program encourages residents to explore the county’s beautiful parks and preserves while getting some exercise and enjoying nature. Due to the impacts of hurricanes Helene and Milton, the event has been pushed back a month this year, running until April 30th, 2025.

Registration is open now! Head over to HCFL.gov/HikingSpree to sign up. This year’s adventure features 22 trails spread across 21 parks and preserves, offering something for everyone.

Complete at least eight hikes and you’ll earn a cool prize – a limited-edition patch, a medallion for your walking stick, or even a bandana for your furry friend! One of your hikes can even be on a trail of your own choosing.

Leashed dogs are welcome to join you on your outdoor adventures. The trails cater to various abilities and ages, with difficulty levels ranging from easy to strenuous. Lengths vary from short strolls to multi-mile adventures, and several trails are wheelchair accessible.

The Hiking Spree is timed perfectly for the cooler, drier months, making it ideal for exploring and enjoying prime bird-watching season. Share your hiking experiences with the hashtag #TakeAHikeHC on social media!
