TAMPA, Fla. – Hillsborough County Fire Rescue battled a fire at 5809 N 50th Street in Tampa late Saturday night.
Calls came into the dispatch center at around 11:30 Friday night from individuals reporting smoke and flames coming from storage units at this location.
“Engine 32 was first on the scene, reporting heavy smoke from multiple storage units. Crews quickly pulled an attack line, gained access to the units, and began battling the blaze,” said HCFR.

Additional crews continued to make access to more units by using saws to cut the overhead doors. They also provided water from a nearby hydrant and assisted with firefighting operations.
Primary and secondary searches were conducted as it was reported that people might have been living in one or more of the storage units.
There were no occupants inside the structure at the time of the fire. HCFR was able to contain the blaze to just four of the twenty-eight storage units.
There were no injuries to civilians or first responders, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
