CITRUS COUNTY, FL. – A Hernando County man has been arrested after a crash claims the life of a 33-year-old Ocala woman.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, David Michael Kahler, 38, from Hernando City, was traveling southbound N. Carl G Rose Hwy in a pickup truck.

Troopers say that a car and an SUV were traveling northbound on SR-200 in respective order. North of N Lecanto Hwy, the Hernando City man crossed the center line, entered the northbound lane, and collided nearly head-on with the car.

Investigators say the pickup truck then rotated into the path of the SUV which struck the right side of the pickup truck.

Troopers say the pickup truck then traveled to the east shoulder and struck a mailbox before coming to a stop.

Both the car and SUV also rotated to a stop along the east shoulder, with the driver of the car, a 33-year-old Ocala woman, suffering fatal injuries at the scene of the crash.

David Michael Kahler, was later arrested by FHP Troopers for DUI Manslaughter, DUI Serious Injury, DUI Property Damage, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
