Church Street is located in Downtown Orlando. In the mid 80’s, it actually was the 4th most visited tourist attraction in Florida. The entertainment facility attracted just shy of 2 million visitors annually.
Today it is almost like a ghost town with only a few people meandering on any given night. Gone is Rosie O’Grady’s, the Cheyenne Saloon & Opera House sits empty, once popular for televising live entertainment on Saturday nights back in 1990 with the likes of Garth Brooks, Lee Greenwood, and other Country stars.
Paris Hilton’s Club is long gone as is the famous Walberg brothers Walburger, many clubs come and go, while others have stayed open throughout the years.
An interesting fun fact, Lou Pearlman was even involved as a part owner with the complex in the early 2000’s. If the name sounds familiar, he was the manager for the Back Street Boys and NSYNC when they started out.
Nowadays, the area can be quite eerie, as there are many haunted buildings in the immediate area. In fact, almost all the structures on Church Street have a story associated with their past. One of the most active for spirts and ghosts, is Church Street Station, the Old Train Depot. Originally there was a wooden shack built for the train station in 1880. It was one of only 4 buildings at the time in the area.
The Bumby Building was built in 1886 across the street and housed the hardware store and sold tickets to the passengers. Henry B. Plant acquired one of the Orlando railroad systems in 1883. The Tampa University main campus building houses the Henry B. Plant museum. It also was a Hotel famous for housing those travelling by train through Tampa.
The Old Train Depot was built in 1889 and today it is filled with numerous spirits. Brothel ladies, brothel children, and men waiting on the old train benches for the train that is never coming, all frequently linger. Orlando’s first unofficial brother was actually on Church Street down by Ceviche Restaurant.
Look for the railing and balconies that look like French Quarter Architecture. See, the train station was the perfect place for the ladies with all of the trains stopping at the station. Of course, the many brothel children born to the ladies were not allowed to live long. The clientele was of elite status and could not be known to have such a child or else ruin their career. So, men were hired to do the dirty deed of making sure the children disappeared.
The attached Graveyard Ghosts YouTube Channel video link will show a spirit investigation at the train station asking for the help of the brothel children and mothers to give the haunted baby doll a name. Be sure to watch for the many orbs that appear in the video as well as the spirits moving the fan and lamps.
