Bradley Wayne McGraw, a 43-year-old from Gaffney, South Carolina, apparently missed the memo that stealing cars and robbing gun stores is best left to video games. McGraw’s real-life attempt at a “Grand Theft Auto” mission ended with a 100-month federal prison sentence.
In September 2022, McGraw and his accomplice, Justin Whitaker, decided to spice up their lives with a bit of pre-dawn burglary.

They stole a truck, hooked it up to the back door of the Rabbit Ridge Guns Shop and Range, and gave it a good yank.
Surveillance footage caught them, masks and all, making off with more than a dozen firearms – because nothing says “subtle” like a truck attached to a gun store door.
The duo’s crime spree came to an abrupt end, thanks to the tireless efforts of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and various sheriff’s offices. It seems even the best-laid plans can go awry when your getaway vehicle is a stolen truck and your loot is a bunch of traceable firearms.

So, the next time you’re tempted to reenact a video game heist, remember Bradley McGraw.
He’s currently trading shotguns and rifles for license plates and jumpsuits, serving as a cautionary tale for all aspiring criminals.
