Grand Ave in Pinellas Park Reopened After Fatal Crash Wednesday

PINELLAS PARK, Fla. – On Wednesday, at approximately 3:15 PM, officers responded to a single-vehicle crash on Grand Ave north of North Gandy Blvd. 

When officers arrived, the driver and sole occupant had been transported to a local hospital and died from injuries sustained in the crash.

Police say that through the investigation, it was learned the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed while north on Grand Ave. 

The portion of the roadway the vehicle was traveling on bends to the right and the driver failed to negotiate the curve at a high speed, ultimately leaving the road and striking a large tree. 

The collision caused the vehicle to be redirected back into the roadway. The car involved was a 2020 Toyota Corolla.

Investigators say the identity of the driver will be released at a later time during the investigation.

Police say that the road has bee reopened.
