Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia said on Tuesday that a recent decision by Britain’s socialized health system on “gender-affirming care” for children should rally support for her bill to do something similar here in the U.S.

“I wish Congress was bold enough to move forward with my Protect Children’s Innocence Act to ban puberty blockers and end child genital mutilation surgeries,” the Georgia Republican posted on X.

“Protecting our kids from these life-altering procedures shouldn’t be partisan!”

Greene was reacting to news that England’s government-sponsored National Health Service opted to ban puberty blockers for children.

“Puberty blockers (gonadotrophin-releasing hormone analogues) are not available to children and young people for gender incongruence or gender dysphoria because there is not enough evidence of safety and clinical effectiveness,” the NHS posted on its website, according to Fox News.

Fox News reported that came after the NHS gave a 2021 study about the treatments a fresh look.

Whereas the 2021 report determined that such drugs had no impact on the mental health of kids who took them, the more recent data indicate that 34% of the trans youth experienced a drop in mental health while taking puberty blockers, Fox News noted.

English Health Minister Maria Caulfield told Sky News: “We have always been clear that children’s safety and wellbeing is paramount, so we welcome this landmark decision by the NHS.”

“Ending the routine prescription of puberty blockers will help ensure that care is based on evidence, expert clinical opinion and is in the best interests of the child.”

England’s decision shows that as President Joe Biden openly supports transing America’s children, Europe is running in the opposite direction.

Forbes reported in December that at least six European nations — Norway, Britain, Sweden, Denmark, France, and Finland — paused or restricted access to sex-changing treatments for minors.

Those nations cited little evidence of the benefits or lack of scientific proof of the effectiveness of the treatments.

Greene’s bill, which she introduced last year and which has a similar version backed by Ohio Republican Sen. J.D. Vance, would ban “any” alleged gender-affirming care for minors.

It would also block taxpayers’ dollars from being spent on such care or on health insurance plans that cover it, among other provisions.
