A 24-year-old Georgia man was sentenced to 30 years in prison on Friday for brutally beating his two toddlers.
Dillan Michael Tennant, a 24-year-old resident of Rossville, was convicted last month on two counts of cruelty to children in the first degree.
The incident took place in March 2023 when Tennant was at home with his two-year-old son and three-year-old daughter.

According to the Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office, Tennant became enraged when the children made a mess in their bedroom due to his failure to properly supervise them.
Prosecutors presented evidence during the trial that Tennant repeatedly beat his children, resulting in horrific bruising. Over the course of two days,
Tennant subjected his children to physical abuse, including the use of a board to strike his two-year-old son. The severity of the injuries inflicted on the toddlers was evident.
After assaulting his children, Tennant left the home with them and took them to a friend’s house in an attempt to hide the injuries he had caused. However, when they returned home, the children’s grandparents and uncle noticed the bruising and injuries. Alarmed by the visible signs of abuse, they immediately contacted law enforcement to report Tennant’s actions.

Upon questioning by law enforcement, Tennant initially denied any involvement in the abuse and attempted to shift blame onto another family member. Despite acknowledging the severity of the injuries, Tennant never sought medical attention for his children, raising further concerns about his actions and priorities as a parent.
Following a thorough investigation and testimonies from witnesses, including representatives from the Department of Family and Children’s Services, the case against Tennant was strong.
The children’s bruising was described as some of the worst seen by professionals in their careers.
A doctor from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation testified that the injuries were non-accidental and resulted from repeated strikes with significant force.
Catoosa County Superior Court Judge Chris Arnt sentenced Tennant to 30 years in prison. The first half of the sentence was ordered without the possibility of parole.

Additionally, Tennant is now prohibited from having any unsupervised contact with his children and is not allowed to have contact with any children under the age of 18.
“This child abuser will have plenty of time to clean his room in the Department of Corrections,” District Attorney Clayton M. Fuller said.
