Brandon Walker of the McIntosh County Sheriff’s Office in Georgia has filed a lawsuit against the personal injury law firm Morgan & Morgan, alleging that an attorney from the firm provided him with misleading information and that the firm was not properly registered to operate in Georgia.
In 2022, Walker was severely injured when his sheriff’s deputy cruiser was rear-ended by another driver traveling at 114 mph. According to the complaint, Walker “sustained severe physical, mental, and emotional injuries,” including a permanent back injury.

Seeking legal assistance, Walker contacted Morgan & Morgan’s Jacksonville office after seeing their advertisements in southern Georgia. The firm assigned Savannah-based attorney Brad Milkwick to his case.
The complaint states that Milkwick spoke to Walker for less than five minutes and advised him that he would need to quit his job with the Sheriff’s Department to file a worker’s compensation claim. This “improper advice,” according to the complaint, could leave Walker with substantial medical bills due to his permanent back injury. The complaint also claims that Morgan & Morgan failed to investigate whether the estate of the driver who hit Walker’s vehicle had additional assets beyond a $25,000 insurance policy.

Additionally, the complaint alleges that Morgan & Morgan’s Jacksonville office was not registered to conduct business in Georgia at the time of the incident. “Defendant Morgan & Morgan Jax could not carry out its contractual obligations to Plaintiff as it was not qualified or registered with this State,” the complaint states. “Therefore, the collection of any fees and expenses contemplated in the unenforceable fee contract was wrongful, and Plaintiff is entitled to the return of such money” taken by Morgan & Morgan.
Walker is pursuing the case as a class action on behalf of himself and other individuals who retained Morgan & Morgan Jacksonville’s services before the office was registered in Georgia in April 2023.
Morgan & Morgan, which specializes in personal injury cases such as car and motorcycle accidents and medical malpractice, has offices across the country, according to its website.
