Hyoung Nam So, also known as Brian So, a former manager at General Motors, has been sentenced to two years in federal prison and fined $250,000 for accepting a $5 million bribe.

A jury found So, of Irvine, guilty of conspiracy to commit bribery in November 2023.

So, who oversaw the supply of car interior parts for GM in North America, promised a lucrative contract to a South Korean parts company, Wookyung MIT, in exchange for the bribe.

The investigation, led by Homeland Security Investigations, resulted in the seizure of $3.19 million in bribe proceeds, which were returned to South Korean authorities. The owner of Wookyung MIT has also faced prosecution in South Korea.
