HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is happy to report that Mr. Woods has been located safely in Polk County.
“We are relieved to know that Mr. Woods has been found and reunited with his family,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “We extend our gratitude to everyone who played a part in bringing him back home. Your assistance is invaluable in these moments.”
The Silver Alert issued for James Wood has been canceled.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office was asking for the public’s help locating a missing and endangered man from Apollo Beach.
James Woods was last seen Thursday, August 10, 2023, around 9:30 a.m., leaving his home around 9:30 a.m. Mr. Woods is diagnosed with dementia and was last seen wearing a grey and white button-down shirt and denim shorts. He stands 6 feet tall and weighs 190 lbs.
He may be traveling in a 2016 orange Chevrolet Corvette, Florida tag number 67A CUY. He may be or have passed through Polk County.
“We are asking the public to please bring this gentleman home,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “His family wants their loved one back with them, and we can all keep an eye out in case we see him or his distinguishable car.”
